This is a very close friend of mine, and her husband. They got married a number of years ago, and I took the liberty to demand taking their wedding photographs.

Now, these wedding photographs are no more special than any other. They portray a couple deeply in love, which I believe can be seen quite clearly.

Yet, some people are deeply provoced by this.

Why?

Because of the obvious; my friend is in a wheelchair, and her husband is not.

And the (to me) both weird and highly amusing thing is that those being most provoced by this, are other people with physical disabilities.

To me, there’s no difference between a person with any sort of disability, and a person with “normal” functionality.

And regardless, we are all deserving of love. We are all deserving to show our love in public. It doesn’t matter who we love.

But some people – both disabled and able, are so provoced by this, they end friendships, get physically and verbally violent towards those who show signs of affection towards each other, should one be disabled and the other one not.

The world is an odd place, my friends.

Personally, I think that the world might be a better place if everyone were a bit more accepting.

Spread the love

there is poetry, rythm and music within the photograph.

step into my world for a while, and experience it with me.

due to mental illness, i am retired from work. i do have a background as a portrait/wedding photographer, as well as one in art history.

i am heavily influenced by photographers active in the 19th century, as well as more modern ones. but mainly, i have my own way of seeing the world.

enjoy!
